Classroom and Ensemble Teaching Experience
  • Elementary Music Teacher, Band Specialist at Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (Livermore, CA), 2022-current
    • Teach general music to a total of 8 classes of 4th graders at 8 sites
    • Teach beginning clarinet and trumpet to 5th graders in 13 classes spanning all 11 elementary or K-8 schools
    • Teach middle school band at Joe Michell K-8 School
  • Elementary Music Specialist at Searles Elementary School (Union City, CA), 2021-2022
    • Teach general music education to all 28 classes (700+ students) at the school, grades TK-5th, including 11 dual immersion Spanish classes
  • Woodwind Instructor at Linn Benton Community College (Albany, OR), 2020 - present
    • Teach one-on-one instrumental lessons to music majors, minors, and non-majors on oboe, clarinet, and bassoon
    • Second year added on saxophone studio

  • Long-term substitute music teacher for Evergreen School District Elementary program (San Jose, CA), 2014 - 2015
    • Substitute teach 3 months of classes for a teacher on maternity leave
    • Teach two band classes (4th grade beginner and 5th grade intermediate) at six elementary schools
    • Teach students playing flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, and trombone using Standards of Excellence books

    • Teach one-on-one instrumental lessons to students ages 10-60+ from the very beginning, including reading music notation, through making California All State Honor bands
    • Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone, Trumpet, 
  • Bassoon instructor and Double Reed Ensemble coach at San Jose State University’s Summer in the City, 2012 - 2019
    • Teach sectionals and give master classes with oboe and bassoon students in multiple bands
    • Coach chamber music with all double reed students
    • Perform as a ringer with other chamber groups and percussionist with the orchestra
    • Teach a week-long sighting course with self-created curriculum

Marching Band Teaching Experience
  • Drill Writer at Archbishop Mitty High School (San Jose, CA), 2016 - 2019
    • Write drill for the school's scatter band, a la Stanford Marching Band, to coordinate with song choices and script created by students
  • Visual Caption Head, Instructor, and Drill Writer at Castro Valley High School (Castro Valley, CA), 2015 - 2019
    • Write drill for the school's competitive marching band in their first four seasons (2016-19)
    • Teach marching technique and drill to all wind players in the marching band in a home-show-only season and while competing
  • Visual Instructor at Wilcox High School (Santa Clara, CA), 2018
    • Help teach and clean marching drill for the winter percussion ensemble
  • Visual Instructor and Woodwind Caption Head at Santa Teresa High School (San Jose, CA), 2013 - 2018
    • Teach all woodwind sectionals, including instrumental foundations
    • Consult on yearly custom warm up packet
    • Team teach all drill for the marching band and coordinate visual counts with music when concerns arise
  • Visual Instructor and Woodwind Instructor at Amador Valley High School (Pleasanton, CA), 2015 - 2018
    • Help clean marching band drill in the 300+ member Marching Dons
    • Run woodwind section, 100+ students, warm ups and spot check music
  • Visual Instructor, Cymbal Instructor, and Woodwind Caption Head at Lynbrook High School (San Jose, CA), 2011 - 2015
    • Teach all woodwind section warm ups, including fundamentals, and music
    • Team teach and clean marching band drill
    • Teach marching cymbal technique, including proper marching band positions and varied playing styles for different sounds
